During my years selling real estate in the Brisbane CBD, I noticed something interesting.

One particular high-rise building regularly generated a significant percentage of my turnover.

It wasn’t necessarily about chasing the most expensive properties.

I’d found a market where my knowledge, relationships and reputation gave me an advantage.

So I focused on it.

I knew the building.

I knew the owners.

I knew the sales history.

And over time, people knew me.

It taught me an important lesson that I later wrote about in Confessions of a Woman in Real Estate:

You don’t have to be everywhere. You need to know where your effort produces the greatest return.

Sometimes we spend so much time looking for the next new strategy that we overlook what’s already working.

Look at your own business.

Where have your best listings come from?

There might be a clue there about where you should be spending more of your time.
